So, for all our Twitter followers, this is slightly older news by a week or so, but we wanted to share it on the blog as well.
The ‘Create Your Own Environment’ poster that we posted about a number of months back has been traveling around the world lately as we wanted to share it with as many people, blogs, organizations, etc., that we value and respect, as possible.
Some of the people we’ve sent it to have loved it so much that we’ve gotten some shout outs about it online in a few places. To say we were pretty ecstatic about that and the fact that so many people like the piece, would be an understatement.
Not only do we want to say thanks to all the blogs who talked about the print (again, Thanks Everybody!), we want to encourage everyone that reads our blog to make sure they go check out these sites.
We know you’ll find something inspiring and something that you like about each of them. So don’t wait any longer, go see what they had to say about our poster and posterquake.com and stick around for a bit to check a few of their sites out. Tell them the crew over at HQ says hey.
The site features an original design that leverages the dark undertones and religious/spiritual rites objects from the film itself to help create a perfect canvas to promote the film project. HQ created a system of photography, illustration and animation to round out the unique aesthetic of the site. Based on a graphic novel concept, this film short was created by director James Moran of Trumac Films to generate interest and support for the broader story and sequel opportunities around the main character, Deacon James (Johnathan Schaech).

Additional methods of connecting with fans and supporters include a custom-designed blog and a Twitter account that will help keep tabs on the post production, and screenings of the full film short at Film Festivals and COMICON in the future. Be sure to have a look at the teaser trailer posted on the site along with some of the behind the scenes photos. The film may be short, but it leverages all that Hollywood can offer including some great talent, advanced CGI and audio engineering.

We are proud to add this to our history of over 20+ film sites. Best of luck to Lost Rites, Trumac Films and Deacon James’ future as an on-screen character!
The kind folks over at Ponoko.com recently featured HyperQuake’s own “Create Your Own Environment” poster when they posted a feature on their blog entitled “Put the X-acto Away”.
Tes One — laser cut paper
The post features 39 posters from 20 different designers for your viewing pleasure. It’s definitely very cool to see how others are using laser cutting techniques to bring their poster designs to life. Weather the canvas is cardboard, ceramic, wood, standard poster paper, wood and even stainless steel (yep, stainless steel!), laser cutting is helping bring designs to life in some refreshing and inspiring ways.
We’re honored that the crew at Ponoko saw our poster and included us in the feature. Thanks again Kristen!
Make sure you go over to check out their post and take a look at some of the other designers work. And if you aren’t familiar with Ponoko.com and what the site is all about, let’s just say if you are interested in ‘making’ something, the site might come in handy.
The fine folks over at Netdiver recently gave us a shout out on their blog (thanks guys!) after taking note of some of the recently refreshed elements on HyperQuake.com.
Here at HQ HQ we have a very likable fellow typically manning the building’s front desk in the mornings named Zack, and every Friday he greets every person with a sunny “Happy Friday!”
Want some of this sweetness to post up on your wall? Call into the office and talk to our dude Chris Strong, he might be able to rustle one up for you.
Team HQ showed up in full-force on Saturday for Cincinnati’s first annual Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Race to Anyplace. Red Bulls in hand for energy, iPods cranked for race time tuneage and Team HQ shirts for speed, we didn’t miss a beat. The event took place downtown at the Chemed Center and boy did it have a great turn-out. Twenty-six teams showed up to pedal as hard as they could for 6 hours to help support blood cancer research, and our eleven-person team was proud to be one of them.
Should anyone ever tell you that spinning is easy, don’t listen to them. We pedaled like we had never pedaled before (the speed one of our teammates generated made me severely question the bikes ability to handle our skills) and after all was said and done, Team HQ racked up 73 miles for the day!
Though we may have went home a little sore and tired, we felt extremely happy and lucky to have gotten the chance to be a part of the event and to help raise funds and general awareness for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society here in Cincinnati. It was a great time and we met some wonderful people (and a huge dog who decided to join in on the race day fun) throughout the course of the day.
As sore as we all are, we can’t wait to be a part of the event again next year. We have our eyes set on the elusive 100 miles marker next!
Saturday 2/27/10, marks the 1st Annual ‘Race to Anyplace’ in Cincinnati, and HyperQuake is racing to it…or rather, in it.
11 determined souls from here in HyperQuake-Ville have volunteered to step up to the challenge to help the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society kick off the event for the first time in Cincinnati. The team will be participating in a 6 hour (Yep, you read that right!) relay-style Spinning event, peddling as hard as they can for 15 minutes at a time before switching riders.

The event has been taking place in other cities across the country for sometime and now it’s Cincinnati’s chance to help the LLS in its fight against cancer. If you want to find out more information about the event, visit the events site here.
If you have directions on how to get to Anyplace (i.e. Spinning tips for us newbies), let us know, I for one can’t find it in the GPS and don’t want to get lost en route. I’m actually writing this blog post while I’m training, so back to that I go. Until then, perhaps we’ll see you in Anyplace.
