The kind folks over at Ponoko.com recently featured HyperQuake’s own “Create Your Own Environment” poster when they posted a feature on their blog entitled “Put the X-acto Away”.

Tes One — laser cut paper

The post features 39 posters from 20 different designers for your viewing pleasure. It’s definitely very cool to see how others are using laser cutting techniques to bring their poster designs to life. Weather the canvas is cardboard, ceramic, wood, standard poster paper, wood and even stainless steel (yep, stainless steel!), laser cutting is helping bring designs to life in some refreshing and inspiring ways.

We’re honored that the crew at Ponoko saw our poster and included us in the feature. Thanks again Kristen!

So you may remember a couple of months back when we shared with you some news about the newest poster in our poster series having been printed and released to the world.

Create Your Own Environment

Well, since then, poster #3 in our series has been finding its way to the far corners of the earth and all spots in between.

Most recently, one of the prints made its way over to Melbourne, Australia (I told you we were there!) where we sent one out to the crew at LifeLounge.com (a design/art/typography blog) as a thank you for feeding our creative juices and providing us with inspiration on a daily basis. Turns out, the gang over there gave us a shout out on their site, which you can check out here. Thanks guys!

No. 3 in the HQ Poster Series is officially out the door, all hot and bothered to meet that special someone who appreciates taking a chance, and we sure had fun with this one.

Given one word, ‘environment,’ we wanted to do something different, to look at what the word ‘environment’ really means, and what it means for us beyond just being conscientious. We wanted to explore how a poster can change with our environment and adapt. We wanted our potential clients to know that we’re thinkers – not just a couple of design punks sitting in a studio waiting for something to happen. And we wanted the poster itself to be kind to the environment (no ink, 100% recycleable).

Aside from this, we wanted a printed showpiece – something for people to talk about. So, with a beautiful French Paper and top-notch laser work from LaserExcel out of Green Lake, Wisconsin, we set off to make some kick-ass posters with a hand-signed, limited edition of 160.

The poster itself wasn’t enough. We want those who are lucky enough to get one to check out posterquake.com to see the full story and even customize their own downloadable desktop wallpaper.

Wait a minute. You didn’t get a poster? Hmm…
Well, if you call and ask Chris Strong nicely enough, I’m sure he’ll figure out a way to do a reprint, or maybe he can find a way to replicate one for you by hand.
