An immersive, page-turning journey through Emma Lazarus's world.
Hyperquake partnered with the American Jewish Historical Society to bring the story of Emma Lazarus to life—rooted not in distant history, but in the lived perspective of a fifth-generation New Yorker witnessing a rapidly changing city. Our team worked closely with AJHS to transform Emma’s Sitting Room into an intimate, cinematic environment where every page turn deepens the narrative.
Through an interactive storybook, visitors engage directly with Lazarus’s world. Each spread layers primary sources, personal writings, and contextual media to reveal the complexity of the social issues she confronted. As the pages unfold, guests experience how Emma responded—with her voice, her activism, and her pen—to the debates shaping her era. The result is an evolving, immersive encounter that connects audiences to the humanity and relevance of her story today.
